How To: Make Your Own Flavored Sparkling Seltzer
This drink is a perfect way to feel festive and stay alcohol-free. While everyone else is boozing it up with a hangover on the horizon, you can look stylish and still stay satisfied by making your own custom Flavored Seltzer! I like La Croix and other brands of flavored seltzer, but it’s also fun to customize your drink and make whatever you want!
All you need for this are some of your favorite flavors, purified water, and unflavored mineral water or sparkling water. I usually pick one citrus, one herb, one sweet fruit, and cucumber. I love the clean flavor that cucumber adds, so I put it in almost all of my infused waters.
Some other good add ins are lime slices, orange slices, blackberries, sliced strawberries, peeled and sliced ginger, sage, basil, lavender, or rosemary.
To make this, you’ll be making a concentrated version of infused water. I used a 30 ounce pitcher that I found at Goodwill and filled it to the top with layers of raspberries (1- 6 ounce carton), lemon (1 whole lemon, sliced), cucumber (1/3 of an English cucumber, sliced), and mint (10-12 whole sprigs). I didn’t stir or mash anything up. Just finish filling it with purified water, and let it set in the fridge overnight. Before serving, turn it upside down a few times to mix the flavors. Pour a few ounces into a glass with ice, add your plain selter, and garnish with fresh pieces of the fruit and herbs you used to make the infusion.
Drink it out of a pretty glass with a cute straw, and enjoy! My glass says “aquaholic.” I couldn’t resist it (at Goodwill again, where else?)
This concentrated infusion will last about 3 days in the fridge.
