Anti-Aging Espresso Scrub

Last January, I became interested in essential oils and homemade beauty treatments.  By now I tried everything from homemade foot masks to homemade body wraps.  I just love doing these at home treatments.  It makes me feel like I’m on vacation, even if it’s just for the few minutes I’m using it.

Nowadays between Amazon and Whole Foods, you can find all the products you need to make tons of beauty treatments at home.  I’ve already posted a few masks and scrubs, but I’ve got lots of different ones.

Another great scrub you can make in a pinch just uses white sugar and the face wash you currently have on hand.  Just do a 2:1 ratio of sugar:face wash.  So easy, right?

I call this one anti-aging because frankincense is supposed to have anti aging properties.  Coffee and caffeine brighten and “wake up” your skin.  Lavender, of course, has soothing properties.  Coconut oil acts as a base for the scrub.

I used to buy Clinique’s 7 Day Scrub, but I actually prefer this homemade one all the time now.  These are the jars I use to store the scrub.

Total Time:  10 minutes

Makes: about 4-5 ounces of scrub

Difficulty Level:  Easy

1/4 cup organic coconut oil

1/2 cup espresso ground coffee (I like Cafe Bustello)

10 drops frankincense essential oil

15 drops lavender essential oil

  1.  Mix all ingredients together thoroughly until the scrub is the consistency of the picture.
  2. Store in an airtight jar for up to 3 months.

  1. Oh my goodness some of my favorite things: Coffee and a good face scrub!! I can’t wait to check this out! 🙂
